Donald Trump Network Marketing/MLM Scam

August 1st, 2009

I’ve heard it all now! Donald Trump is now involved in Network Marketing/MLM in a revolutionary concept. Health, wellness, and nutritional supplements. This makes the 251st nutritional MLM company. Can they not think of anything more original than  that! This new concept is supposed to launch on November 9th, 2009. This will be Trump’s first attempt at MLM. He is calling it “Donald Trump’s Bailout of America”! Pleeezz!! Enough is enough!! We are so tired of Multi-level nutritional companies. We need something new, innovative, and refreshing. Where is the originality? We need a revolution in the network marketing industry! Will someone please come up with something that really will be unique and different.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Network Marketing/MLM industry, but let’s face it, there are enough nutritional MLMs. Everything from Xango, to Melaluca, from Herbalife to MonaVie, Juice Plus to Shaklee, and now Donald Trump Nutritional Program. Most of the nutritional MLMs that I have had the experience of seeing and trying are great products. My beef is not with the quality of the products, but the quantity of products. Too many nutritional MLMs.

I understand the lure to these types of companies. The profit margins are huge. Think about it, when you can charge $85.00 per month for one monthly supply of a particular  nutritional supplement, and it only costs $3.00 – $5.00 to produce, then you get 30,000  – 40,000 people purchasing these supplements month after month, I get it.

Now I realize Mr. Trump has taken a big hit with this current real estate crisis, but starting another supplement/vitamin mlm company doesn’t seem like that’s the right route to take. I just can’t see him using recruiting techniques , and recruiting resources to build a downline. Mr. Trump, i have a lot of respect for what you have done in the past, but could you be a little more creative.

Buzzirk Scam

July 19th, 2009

Buzzirk is a new network marketing/mlm scam that you should be aware of. I just came from a meeting that was promoting Buzzirk Mobile powered by Zero1. I must say it was very convincing, and I was very tempted to join, however my intuition told me to start doing some research into the company, and I found out quite a few things about the company that I think a perspective distributor should be aware of before joining this company.

First of all let’s talk about who the company, Buzzirk is, and what they are offering.  Ben Piilani is the 28 year old CEO of  UTGI and Buzzirk, the parent companies of  Zero1, which is a conglomerate of many smaller companies like Global Verge.  UTGI has a revenue stream of about a $10 million which is a drop in the bucket when compared to a revenue of $8 billion by T-Mobile, $10 billion by Verizon , and $12 billion by AT&T. The significance of this will come into play a little later.  The company touts a “G5″ network. The proper terminology should be “5G”, which does not exist yet, anywhere.  Now,  the company also is promoting that everything is done by VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocal). This is what gives you unlimited calling, downloads, data, text, and emails anywhere in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico for a low price of  $79.95, and $89.95 for international calling. The company also claims that their phones will be the most state of the art out there. Imagine being able to see someone in real time as you are talking to them, and they can see you with a built-in camera on the face of the phone, rather than on the back of the phone. You will also be able to do away with your internet home service, because you can now tether the phone to a USB Port on the back of your computer, and turn it into an internet modum. The claims are, that the download speed will be as fast as a T-1 line. You will be able to download a movie in less than 3 minutes.  Sound too good to be true, right?

Let’s get some facts straight. In order to do what this company claims it can do, it would require a minimum of $40 billion just to put the infrastructure in place to accomplish such a formidable goal.  The revenue of the top three carriers combined does not even top that amount. In these times of  “credit freezes”, where did UTGI get their money? The technology to even come up with 4G is a minimum of 2 years away. How has this “new” company accomplished such a goal with a revenue stream that at best is $10 million. Why have they chosen to go the network marketing/mlm route to market this product?  They have chosen to recruit distributors, rather than established authorized dealer networks.  If zero1 truly had this technology available, and it truly was as cutting edge as they claim, then why even bother recruiting a network of distributors, when you could partner with At&T, like Apple did with the Iphone, and instantly have a 4,000,000 customer base right away. So far it has been 6 weeks since the launch of the distributorship, and only 40,000 people have joined. They charge $89.00 to join and $39.00 per month for a “distributorship” (with no product yet). The product was supposed to have launched on April 1st, 2009 (April Fools Day), but got delayed 3 times since, and now they are saying it could be 3 – 4 more months before the product will be ready to launch to the public (very fishy). Why would you even start recruiting a team of distributors if you don’t even have a product yet? Each “distributor” must pay $69.00 to join, then $39.00 per month for six months. What do I get for the money? A website that my 12 year old daughter could have done through www.freewebs.com. If you calculate 40,000 distributors times $69.00, that  comes to $2,700,000 already in six weeks. Not bad, Mr. Piilani. By the way, look at all their board of directors. They all have the last name of Piilani. Very curious. One of the top leaders of UTGI Mark Petschel was indicted by a St. Louis County grand jury on three counts of security fraud, and three counts of selling unregistered securities.

This is a company that I would stay away from. I would not take part in any network marketing/mlm recruiting by this company. I hope that research that I’ve done so far proves me wrong about this company, but experience is the mother of wisdom.

Top 10 things to look for in MLM Companies

July 17th, 2009

When looking for a MLM business there are certain questions you must ask of all potential companies and sponsors in order to make the best decision and one with which you can feel confident that you will succeed and thrive with the company and sponsor you have chosen.

1. How long has the company been in business? Although it is exciting to think about being one of the very first distributors in a given MLM company, the reality is that 90% of them go out of business during the first two years, so it is best to join a company that is at least three years old.

2. What is the product? Is it something you are passionate about and is there really money in it? People and ads may say that there is money in it but is there really? Do your homework and find out if there really is the kind of money in it that they claim.

3. What is the retail profit? A solid company and downline will be built quicker and easier if you can make money by retailing and not only by recruiting.

4. Who are the company owners and what is their track record? If they are honest and ethical leaders who have experience in network marketing, the company will be more successful long-term than if they have not.

5. How many other MLM businesses are selling the same product or something similar? Although competition can be good, too much competition or too many companies with the same or a similar product will make your job building a business more difficult.

6. How many reps are already in the company? If there are too many, the company may be saturated and this can make it hard to build a large organization. If there are too few and the company has already been in business for a while then something may not be right with the company.

7. What are your options for building your MLM business with this company? Do you have to do parties? Can you do fundraising? Can you use the internet? Are there multiple ways to build the business or only one or two?

8. How much is the autoship? This is important not only for you, when you are getting started but for your future team members. Many companies have authorships of $150 or more and this can make it difficult for people who are just getting started to afford the autoship and any other marketing tools and other expenses they may have.

9. What kind of support and training is available? This is crucial for you especially in the beginning. Are you confident that your sponsor will not just sign you up and then leave you on your own?

10. What is the comp plan or pay plan? Various plans will make it easier or more difficult to earn a large income?

11. What are the company’s plans for future expansion? If they only have one or two products now, will they have more in the future? If so, this may increase the likelihood that you will be able to grow your business faster and make more money with the introduction of new products.

Having the Michael Jackson kind of charisma!

July 7th, 2009

I was watching the Michael Jackson Funeral just before interviewing a perspective recruit, and I was reflecting on the kind of charisma that he had. He was able to completely captivate his audience with his magical charisma. That is the same charisma that is needed when you are trying to recruit the masses. Attitude and enthusiasm is everything. People need to see that you look the part of a successul business person (even if you are not, yet). Charisma is defined as  one who is charismatic is said to be capable of using their personal being, rather than just speech or logic alone, to interface with other human beings in a personal and direct manner, and effectively communicate an argument or concept to them.  Think about your upline’s upline. What qualities does he or she possess? Are they charismatic? Are they good with people? Next time you talk to a perspective recruit, think about Michael Jackson’s charisma.

Cold Market Recruiting

May 6th, 2009

The days of making a top 25 list of your friends and family, getting a script, and making an uncomfortable phone call to your friends and family are coming to an end.  Are you tired of getting shunned away at birthday parties because people see you as the person that is going to recruit and sell them your MLM company? Have you thought that maybe there is a better way to do it? Not only do you not have to call upon your friends and family to recruit them into your business, but there is a very effective way that potential recruits can actually call you! Imagine the phone ringing 10 – 15 times per day, with people calling you, interested in your opportunity.

This is what I have been doing for the past 12 years. After reaching many milestones in my finacial services MLM business,  such as top 50 recruiter for 5 years in a row, out of 100,000 people,  I decided to put my technique and system in a book and teach others how to do it. I never realized that the book would take off like it did, but I’ve come to realize that there is a great need in the MLM world to be taught effective techniques on how to recruit the masses. What would it do to your business, if all of a sudden you were able to recruit 20 – 30 people per month into your MLM business. I will be teaching some of the recruiting techniques in more later blogs. Stay tuned
